Is there any more wonderful season than spring?
After what felt like the longest winter ever the snow has melted, the daffodils are blooming, and we’re blissfully baring our shins. Now, if you’re more a fan of fall leaves, shades of charcoal and weighty September issues, you may want to stop reading.
Still with us? Great. Straight from the runways, here are 5 delightful fashion trends to consider ce printemps (in alphabetical order, just because).
ACID WASH DENIM

Perhaps they don’t get Saved By The Bell reruns in Paris? Never did we think this look would come back in style, but here it is. We considered closing our eyes and waiting for the whole thing to pass but then nostalgia took over. Fabulous, over bleached denim has now cropped up where you’d least expect it, at places like Proenza Schouler, Celine, and even Christian Dior. Yup, we’ve officially drank the Kool-Aid.
If you’re looking to channel your inner Tiffani Amber Thiessen, be sure to chic-up your acid wash pieces with sky-high heels, a trés tailored jacket and (if you can pull it off) a cute Parisian accent.
BRINGING BACK BEIGE
Remember when oatmeal tones were simply a neutral afterthought? Not anymore. For spring ‘19 this hue is huge. From camel to caramel, we’re seeing beige in everything from sleeveless suits and stilettos to skinny pants and midi skirts.
Especially elegant worn tone-on-tone, this is a ‘colour’ best balanced out with bold lips and a big personality (especially if you’re standing in a sand dune or riding a camel). Looking for a great full-busted option? Our totally taupe Laura Dress is sleeveless and easy-breezy.
BIG, BIGGER, BIGGEST BOWS
Go big or go bold, my friends. This season’s embellishments are positively massive. The SS’19 runways were awash with shoulder bows, neck bows and some worn like giant bat wings (Balmain, of course).
Here at MB we’re total suckers for a stylishly well-tied bow. Our cotton Monique Blouse is classic, a little bit girlie, and totally wearable IRL.
Who knew bicycle couriers would be such trendsetters? Longer than shorts of springs past (hallelujah) they’re very versatile and comfy as heck. So much so, a couple of runway models were actually smiling.
Wondering how to wear your bike shorts? Think of them like a pair of leggings or skinny pants that look fab with a blazer and heels, blousey cropped shirts or a simple t-shirt and ballet flats. Our own Alexis Shorts are made with slimming Italian jersey and a wide elastic waistband that doesn’t pinch. You’re welcome.

From oversized Prabal Gurung sweaters to multi-coloured Prada handbags, there was so much to dye for at couture shows we almost thought it was 1969. 19 year old runway models may not be enough to make us wear it to Starbucks, but seeing Beyonce sporting a tie-dye dress on an Italian yacht? Sold.
Dip your toe in by trying a psychedelic t-shirt under a simple white blazer and see how that feels. Still not sure but love the laid back vibe? Our long halterneck Celeste Dress will take you seamlessly from Zuma Beach to cocktail hour.
