5 Notable Looks From This Year’s Grammy Awards

From Michelle Obama’s surprise stage appearance to Janelle Monae’s vagina tribute performance, it’s fair to say women pretty much ruled the 2019 Grammy awards.
What was different and energetic about this year’s crop of fashion was that women seemed to dress entirely for themselves. Their outfits evoked feelings of power (we’re looking at you, Janelle Monae!) and remarkable comfort (um, Alicia Keyes in a belted leather jumpsuit!?) Here are 5 looks that stood out at this year’s show – and a few pieces from our own collection that’ll make you run-way ready (sequins not included):

1) Camila Cabello

The Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo nominee may have walked away sans hardware, but she literally sparkled in a long, open-backed dress by Armani Privé.  If you’re a Miriam Baker fan, then you know we’re rather partial to mock turtlenecks. Better still, this look was both glam and simple all at once.

2) Kacey Musgraves

Between four wins and a drool-worthy duet with Dolly Parton, Ms. Musgraves totally swept the night. Instead of choosing a big, bold, statement dress for her “Rainbow” performance, she chose a white, minimalist (another mock neck!), Solace London dress, with a side slit and bare arms. We admit we’re a bit biased about this one since the bodice is similar to our very own Diana dress.

3) Alicia Keys

In the show’s great spirit of women solidarity, we love how Alicia referred to every woman she introduced as her ‘sister’. Aside from playing two pianos at once, her effortless style added to her stand-out appearance. In addition to her plunging red carpet dress and a series of fab jumpsuits, the singer wore not a stitch of makeup. Is it possible to look this chic and feel comfy as well?

4) Jameela Jamil

A full-busted gal after our own heart, we have a major girl crush on Jameela. Not only has the actress overcome anorexia, breast cancer and a car accident that left her unable to walk, she’s also fiercely outspoken about body positivity and once used a vibrator to curl her hair (accidentally). The floor-length J. Mendel gown highlights all her amazing assets, don’tcha think? Not everyone likes to show off their cleavage, but if you’re looking to take the plunge, try our Amber Dress, which sports our lowest neckline ever.

5) Bebe Rexha

Not a single designer wanted to dress this nominee’s size 8 body until she posted a tearful video on Instagram (hey, sometimes even strong gals cry). After being shamed, several designers came to her rescue where she landed on a poofy chiffon gown by Monsoori. If you’ve got curves, we think you (and Bebe) would look incredible in our slightly more low-key, Audrey dress.
